more than 1 reverb?

i read somewhere that sometimes people use up to 10 different reverbs on just the lead vocals. why do they need 10 reverbs? and this producer posted up a hip hop song that he mixed a while back and said that he used 6 different reverbs on jus the lead vocals but the vocals sounded extremely dry so why do they sound dry when he used so many different reverbs? i forgot the link to the page
