More problems with background "hum". Any input is greatly appreciated!
I've posted somethin' simular to this a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't really get any real huge feedback from it, probably because I didn't quite explain the problem well. I record all of my tracks on the Boss BR-8. I mainly do Hip-Hop/Rap music and a little bit of R&B. Everytime I get ready to record the vocals for a song and go to the "MIC 1 (Vocal)" input, I get a real bogus hum all through the song. Sometimes even if I unplug the mic I STILL get the hum. I can even put the recording input on the Guiter setting and get the same thing. At first I just thought it was just the kind of mic I was using, or even the cord, but I'm not sure. ALSO, I've noticed that the button right next to the zip drive that I use to open it, lights up at the exact time I hear a HUGE burst of a HUM! Could it be the drive? I have no idea what is going on here... It didn't always do this either. I also thought that the reason for it humming was because of the heat... we have no air condition in the studio, just the fans (which we shut off during voice recording). Could it be the heat causing the BR-8 to do this? Because in the winter we weren't having this problem at ALL!!! Now that summer is here, all hell breaks loose....
If ANYONE knows what's going on, please drop me a couple of lines. This is really messin' up our recording process and we are not sure rather or not to continue to record with the hum without knowing how to eliminate it. Hope to read some nice advice. Thank You!
