What's this button do?
I have a Korg D1600. Would a wise investment be a (insert low budget mic pre here... i.e. audio buddy, dbx mini, MP, etc.)? How sufficient are the pre's on the Korg? Some of my other gear includes...

2 ECM's (great thread and info BTW)
Rode NT1
57's and 58's
DBX 266xl
Countryman DI

I Play acoustic guitar, drums, some bass, some piano, and vocals.
Are one of these pre amps going to dramatically improve the quality of inputs (geared toward vocal imputs)?

Thanks
Pete

An outboard preamp will help your sound. I would stay with inexpensive tube preamp like the Tube MP or dbx mini pre. A tube preamp can help tame the bright high-end of the NT1, and you could even run your bass guitar through it for an overdrive effect.
