The electrical rough-in is more-or-less complete.
Here's a few pics:

Main panel. A 240 amp upgrade at the house allows for a separate 120 amp sub panel here.

Here they've left a coil of wires for the power to the console. This is my "Star Grounding". Each of the drops have dedicated grounds. Those will lead to 5 double gangs at the console.

Notice too, how one outlet is adjacent the other on the opposite wall. That'll have to change! Outlets on opposing walls should be staggered further apart.

Wait. One more.

I'm not real happy with this. They just kind of draped the wires across the trusses. I'm not sure if they're done though, but it seems like those should be secured to the truss every so often????

I wouldn't be pleased either. Staples are usually called for, though with the amount of feeds you have together, I'd use plastic cable clamps, this way they can be bundled together neatly.

BTW, it looks as though your electricians are utilizing metal staples, with no vinyl insulation? If thats true, do a quick spot check for any that may have bit into the wire's insulation before the insulation and walls go up. I'm sure everything is fine, but a quick check can't hurt.

Once in a while ya hit a slightly softer 2x4... and whap, in it goes!

Looking really good Michael!

This is the time where it doesn't seem like you're getting anywhere. Then when you get to sheetrocking, it'll be an instant transforamtion. Then, after you paint, you'll be back to things that seem like you're not getting anywhere..... the details! ;)

Nice...... real nice!

Michael,

When they built my house (November 2002 through February 2003), they did the same thing... just tossed any wires that went along the trusses up there without anything securing them.

Technically in Iowa, you only need to secure the romex at the outlet box or if it is exposed from the living space side.

They also used metal staples (no insulation) just as they did for you.

I'm glad to see progress on your studio!! Looks cool... I took the WHOLE week off last week to do some drywalling on the house... and I got ONE piece up before I ran into an issue... and of course the issue required contractors who won't come out until sometime THIS week... I got *NOTHING* accomplished.
