I know, it isnt "just" a jdisc, but the jdisc in each case was the mains pair and wwas providing about 85% of the source...
The first one with the symphony and choir used Gefell M930s and Neumann u87s. the u87s were on a jdisc in the center, and the gefells were on the same bar in A-B

the chain>>

Gefell m930(A-B , 1 meter spread) Neumann u87(omni, jdisc, center of the bar)
>>custom made silver XLRs>>>wendt x4 mixer>>>line out to Mytek stereo 192 ADC, AES out to >>sound devices 722

recorded at 24/96. did cuts (cut out tuning, coughing, etc) in samplitude...resampled to 44.1khz using the native samplitude resample tool, dithered to 16 bit using POW-R 3 (type 3) dither.

2nd track.---DPA 4061s on a jdisc in the center ,neumann u87s on the outsides in a/b (all on the same bar)>>>DPA mma6000/oade m148(2 channel transformer based(jensen) pre)>>>wendt x4>>>mytek stereo 192>>722

recorded in 24/96 , resampled in wavelab (44.1khz)(native tool) and dithered using the WAVES IDR Dither.

both tracks were encoded to MP3 PRO using nero. That church sounds like a different room in each section....

oh yeah...also discovered that nero mp3pro somehow normalized the files. so overlook that.

BigRay, I'm doing research on Jecklin Discs and am very interested in hearing the link you've posted. Is it possible to re-post...please? :)

I will post something else, though that particular link is dead. ;)

What kind research you doing? I built a disc recently, but I haven't used it in anger yet  :o

BigRay...THANKS...that sounds great! What is amazing is the sound that was captured by the two mics that are so close in proximity.

mshilarious, yes, I'll be building one too. I just want to experience and understand as much as possible...even for something that at the surface seems so simple is truly not.
