JMAN: Thanks. Okay...I guess I have heard of Joe Jackson...not too familiar with his stuff. He did that semi-popular tune "Stepin' Out" didn't he? I was never to crazy about that one...anyhoo...and I've got to say it the first time I've gotten a comparison to Elvis Costello. It's an interesting concept to speed this one up. I might try it and see how it sounds...thanks!
CYANJAGUAR: Well I'm glad you seem to be warming up to the tune. Thanks for the upgrade! Just out of curiosity, what do you mean about the "wildcard"? Is this one slipping through as something different than a typical tune? And I'll definitely screw with the EQ on the voice a bit. Thanks for the kind words!
KHOMPEWTUR: I'm glad you like the tune! My leads are pretty much always wandering, every take I do is usually completely different than another when it comes to the recording of them...I guess the quicker tunes are a little more structured. Thanks!
YIORDANAKI: I'm a big fan of Jack Johnson as well. I wouldn't necessarily say this was one that has that sound, but there are a couple on that link...I've gotten it with the tunes "So_Cold.mp3" and "Get_Home.mp3". This tune I was trying to be a bit more emotional which (I thought anyway) required a different singing style, but it sounds like I might have over done it. I think I'm glad you guys didn't hear my original "off the cuff" version when I wrote it. You guys would have probably crucified me. I actually have bongos on just about all my tunes. This one it just didn't seem to work for me. Thanks!
PEDULIST: Don't worry, we're all getting old together.
TRIPLEM: Thanks for the feedback...I actually wanted those background vocals to be more subtle than anything. I could turn 'em up a bit and see how it sounds. And ya, I know. I was trying to make the drums in the chorus kind of unique. I was waiting for a comment on those. Thanks for helping out.
GUERNICA: I'm really going to have to check out this Joe Jackson better. It'd be interesting to hear the comparisons. Thanks!
I think I'm gonna take another shot at this mix and possibly another shot at guitar and maybe re-sing it. I'm always open to advice. Thanks for the help people!
