k i do rap music i have sure ksm27 and prenous blue tube and creative audigy 2z sound card platinum and sony v600 headphones. i need monitiors to improve my mixing and recording. here are the monitiors i am looking at

Behringer B2031A Truth Active Monitors
Wharfedale DP8.1A Diamond Pro Active Monitor (5 in.)
Wharfedale DP8.2A Diamond Pro Active Monitor (6.5 in.)

what benfits would i get from the 6.5in monitors?? and any other recommendation are welcome also would it be a good idea to my mic in a closet for better quality recording cant afford to build a studio. also out of those 3 what would be better.......and would getting better pre amp improve quality? and i dont mean a $1000 amp just a little something that i would see a definite improvement.

I've researched a lot of monitor recommends in the last couple months, and the overwhyelming response has been about 1 for Behringer Truth and 99 against. Main reasons are harsh sound and excessive RFI interference.

It's been about 50/50 with KRK, some people have had the power amps in them go bad within a few months, and that was enough to scare me away from KRK.

In the $500/pair price range, I've done some side-by-side listening comparisons, and the list I've come up with is:

Yorkville YSM1-P
Event TR8XL
Mackie Tapco S8
Alesis M1 MKII
Tannoy Reveal 5A

I've also found that it is difficult to stay current on this info, probably because the popular sellers are trying to unload existing stock, which is not always up to date gear. Personally, I'm hoping that the Yorkville monitors are as good with mixing as their tube amps are with guitar playing! A lot of people really rave about the Events, and my feeling is the Yorkies and the Events would probably win out over the others. If you have extra $$$$$ then the Mackie HR624 is really nice! I've also heard recommends for Dynaudio and JBL's LSR series, but I've never listened to them myself.

The other extremely important thing I've learned recently is that even the best monitors in the world cannot compensate for the acoustical damage done to your mix by an untreated room. If your room is bad, then your mix will be bad, period! So I am ready to build some treatments for my room while I wait for my mixer to come back from the shop.

Should check out the Samson 65A. They run about $300, and are a good buy for the buck. Might wanna check out the subwoofer from Samson, also.
