k i do rap music i have sure ksm27 and prenous blue tube and creative audigy 2z sound card platinum and sony v600 headphones. i need monitiors to improve my mixing and recording. here are the monitiors i am looking at

Behringer B2031A Truth Active Monitors
Wharfedale DP8.1A Diamond Pro Active Monitor (5 in.)
Wharfedale DP8.2A Diamond Pro Active Monitor (6.5 in.)

what benfits would i get from the 6.5in monitors?? and any other recommendation are welcome also would it be a good idea to my mic in a closet for better quality recording cant afford to build a studio. also out of those 3 what would be better.......and would getting better pre amp improve quality? and i dont mean a $1000 amp just a little something that i would see a definite improvement.

the truth monitors do not tell the truth. i used a pr at a studio i worked in a couple years back. they sound great, don't get me wrong. but we also had a pr of yamaha ns10's next to them. don't know about the other speakers but if you want active monitors yamaha just came out with the HS series which are basically a powered version of the ns10. won't sound pretty but you'll mix better w/ 'em.
good luck.

Can't speak for the Wharfedales, but like popman said the there is no truth in the Truth's. Not all that good for critical mixing. I have a pair that I use for tracking guitars though, and I do my final mixes over Event TR-8XL's. I use the Behringer's for tracking guitars because they have a really pronounced midrange "bite" to them which really make guitars sound good. Plus there loud as hell. But, again you can track with headphones too, so can I justify spending $300 for a pair of speakers that serve simply as a guitar tracking setup......nope......

I actually just enjoyed listening to the Truths mentioned here. I compared them directly to the new Yamahas with the 8inch woofer. I want decent realistc bass, so I am shooting for 8 inch minimum.

The vocals and highs were incredibly smooth with the Yummie-has. However, the low bass was lacking to me. The Truths seemed to be a little harsher than the yamahas and the vocals were less pro-nounced, but the lower bass definition was more pleasing to me with the Truths. I actually believe it had a lot to do with the slotted front ports on the Truths compared to the rear ports on the Yamaha.

For loud rock and roll, I think the Truths will work fine for what I need. The price was darn nice too $330 for the pair and powered too. I could not stand those warfdales, man those sounded dead and muddy.

I believe I am going to go with the Truths for the price and I am just starting out. You gotta start somewhere so you can appreciate better and more expensive stuff as you attain your ear and tastes.
