I see deaf people
bit of a departure for both of us, some Joey vocal and guitar magic and my usual synth and machine drums making "monsters"

Joe did the lyrics and melody as well....quite the effing talent that man :)

im a bit dead eared to the mix now but i think its there or in the neighbourhood

all comments and listens appreciated...one for the 31st maybe :D

I gave you a mo' - freakin' fix it already! My kid's got a soccer game in the morning!

:D

haha, hold yir horses ;)

actually i really need to go back to it, im having real problems getting the drums to sound right.....maybe i was bit premature posting but im dead to it after mixing it all day

I could be way off....but there almost seemed a little too much treble? I will have to listen again tomorrow when I can turn it up a little louder (everybody is sleeping here right now ).

might be sharon, im not getting it myself but im dead to this, cant believe the simplest of tunes was proving to be so difficult...i dont suppose having four kicks helps lol

ill go back to it with fresh ears myself...

Wow, Joey really is Chameleon Man at present! I wonder what coloured underpants he wears on the outside? Do they change colour with the genre?
I don't hear any treble problems on headphones at present.
His could fit into a Faith No More gig - a bit of dance metal.
You may be dead to it KC but I'm fresh to it and enjoyed it.
Perhaps just a little more bottom end?
Excellent collaboration chaps!
Did you purchase a copy of EzeGerg to do the kick drums?
Metronomic? Metrognomic?
Is Greg short? Don't Know.
Does he have a fishing Pole? Yes.
Does he wear a little hat? On the back of his CD Yes!
Is he a metropolitan kind of guy? Well, he's been from Louisiana to texas & they have big towns so Yes again.
Is he metronomic? Well, he certainly knows how to stay on the 1 when he wants/needs to so Yes, (as required)
Oh, where was I? That's right...
I'm playing it for a second time straight away which I'm not supposed to do - my tolerance for dance/trance is strictly dictated by my Rock N Roll Heart but here I am doing it again.
I feel the urge to add something to that note Joey uses to begin the phrase after the talking - maybe add some backward reverb or something.
Oh, yeah. I'm walking away from the computer right now. Turn around and put the mouse down.
hands behind my head and oh, OK. Sorry.
You're moving closer to your avataar with every track.
Come on, come on, we all float down here!!!!!!

Haha....EZGerg is the shits right now, everybody wants one!:D
I wear luminiscent underwear....it keeps the flies away....!
Totally enjoyed doing this, Ray. A mix of metal madness and electronic magic, I love to experiment and I think the 2 styles blended pretty well here.
Thanx for the comments.:)

Oooooooo...spooky dangerous... I LOVE it!

Ya'all nailed the Season down, with an Insane Clown Nine Inch twist...a nail possee indeed.:D

My monitors appear to be toast, so take this with a pat of butter...

On my headphones the mix sits perfect, nothing cancelling the importance of the other.

Did you mix this on the headphones KC?

I fell asleep right after posting last night...:o

Listened a few times this morning. The production is really seamless. Doesn't even hint at being a long-distance collab in terms of integrating everything together well.

Sounds pretty unique in my experience - only thing I can relate it to is NIN which I've never heard much of, but certainly a distinct sort of crossover sound.

Vocals are excellent as expected. I did have trouble making out the words on the affected parts, but probably to be expected given the effects there.

Like all the synth stuff and the panning is well balanced.

Did you consider using a bigger, trashier more aggressive sound for the beat? I think the beat itself fits great and everything, but it seems maybe a little lite sounding given the nature of the guitars & vocals. I dunno...

Where is the intro sample from?

Props to the both of you! :) You should do more work together.

definitely a bit more bottom end...i think i really made a hash of this mix, the drums were fine until i started mixing them and i really didnt do them justice....theres no sub in the verse so that the chorus had more oomph, but it could be too unbalanced because of this

ill have a look at the last phrase Joey sings before going into the chorus....reverse reverb might be the trick

thanks for the listen Ray and your comments ;)

I mix on both, but im more comfortable on my phones for the detail as im in a very poor room

does it show?

I played this on another set of monitors and it sounded bad...but fine on my mp3 player which normally shows things pretty quickly

I felt it was lacking dynamics last night but no one is really shouting that out??

thanks for listening True...anything with joey sounds good

I think i was going to ask PI to do drums for it and go for a big beat sound...but i kinda liked the drum beat in this and thought this wont be our last collab...we also thought about Brad doing some real bass in there

maybe this should be more of a band collab than a two man affair...im just nervous mixing other folks work as lets face it...im around 50/50 for mix success rate

ill revisit it after the weekend and gather up folks opinions...i think the 31st is where this is aiming for

the sample was taken from an old childrens LP, it just seemed to be a good motif and gave the track its subject...the backing one is from a collection of crap I record of the internet then looped...i have a netbook wired into my daw just for that

thanks Phil...thought this may be more up your street...Ive got another couple of projects to do then Ill sling something like this your way??

WoW:

This one really surprised me guys. I new I would like it in the first 5 seconds. The creepy groove with the nice guitar work is a really cool blend.

At first I wasn't sure if I liked the vocal growl- then the the chorus kicks in with a very nice vocal breakup that shows off your chops really well, and contrasts with the verse.

Like your breakdown in the middle Kc, and the mix sounds right on to me. Overall remiunds me a bit of Sister Machine Gun wthout trying to mimic their style- excellent!

More collabs in the ckinic- I think it keeps everyone fresh!

I was thinking about doing some very eerie or creepy sounding classical stuff on a nylon string guitar ;)

Thanks Tom...really glad you liked it...i have no idea if it sounds like its influenced by anyone as i dont listen to any of the bands mentioned...I was thinking "1000 homo DJs" but was afraid to say so lol

i still dont like the mix, i dont know what it is but when i play it alongside one of my other tunes its sounds narrow and boxy and the drums are still wrong...but i thought that about the crowley one and folks thought that was solid

i await Gregs tom tom test...though i think hes going to mention the kick

yes more collabs...next punk/acid fusion lol

thank gawd...i thought it might end up some death metal shit ;) :D

Damn KC I'm at a college in Mass. and using a free public computer and no DAMN SPEAKERS here!!!!! no spell check either! well maybe how do you do spell check on a DAMN MAC?

This sucks ...... I'll give this and the dance toon I missed the first of next week.

It might end up some death metal shit it depends on what kind of music I'm trippin' on
