First, I would like to thank CJWalker for being gracious enough to send me a Monster Performer 500 mic cable to do this test. CJ, the cable should be back to you by Wednesday.

So, same deal as the other test I conducted. Same mic in the same spot for both cables running to the same preamp, into the same soundcard..etc....

4.11MB 24 bit 48KHz .wav file

Sorry, no screen shots of the .wavs this time. Maybe I will do that Monday if I get the chance.

Less difference between these two cables then between the SP1000 and the other "cheaper" cables I compared awhile back. But, I still feel the SP1000 just has a more detailed sound. But I tell ya, if you are looking to get into the high end cable game, the Performer 500 stuff is a good way to go. Very nice sounding cable.

Hey Ed:

Should I send you some Belden 8412 w/PRO CO connectors and Canare L-4E6S w/ Neutrik connectors?

I'm all ears. I just found a place nearby where I can buy Canare L-4E6S Cable for 0.65 per foot (one foot at a time, if I want). I'm curious to see how it compares to the Monster. Are Neutrik connectors better than Switchcraft?

Better? Not in my opinion.
As good? Yes, in my opinion.
Cheaper? Yes.

Just bite the bullet and get the Monster Studio Pro 1000. In fact while you’re at it, you need to rip all the guts out of your gear and replace every single conducter in every single component (including power supplies and wall warts) with YOU GUESSED IT! Monster Studio Pro 1000 microphone cable. If you do this, you don’t even have to worry about being a better musician and it won’t matter what kind of equipment or mics you use. EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL BE PROFESSIONAL!! All you will have to do is shout a bunch of words and bang on all the instruments for about 3 minutes and this wonderful, patented cable will take all of this garbled noise and arrange it into a grammy award winning HIT!! What the hell are you watin for!!?? This stuff is the Philosophers Stone!!

Hey man, you dont neccesarily have to buy the 1000 or the m1000 (yes even higher grade) , but I do stand by the 500. Its very nice and has made my mixes millions of times better, I SWEAR!!! It wont play the instruments for you though...

Actually SwayGo, I hear that it will make your pecker bigger. Try some out.... :(

Ed

Man Ed, that wood pecker in my backyard is big enough. Why would I want it bigger? I mean, how does a cable .... Oh wait, I get it. Dang, that must be awesome cable. Hey swaygo, take a chill pill. Hearing folks talk about the quality of the signal should never be confused with the quality of the music. Boston or Queen would be killer bands no matter what they used for cable when they recorded. But hey, I have a Pink Floyd bootleg (and I love Pink Floyd) that I never listen to because of the poor quality of the recording. I need to save some money and get that Monster 500. Any other good cable for a decent price for us po' musicians?

Peace, Jim

so where exactly would you get this stuff. at MARS and GS... or by order. huh. i think i wil jsut go search ZZounds.com or something like that.

Mars
Sweetwater
ZZounds
MusiciansFriend

They all have the same exact prices!

Friggin' Comunist Monster Cable!

Was it supposed to sound sped up because of the 48KHz sampling rate? I know I can record and play back at 48KHz without that happening.
What's going on?
Anyhow the 1000 sounded a little nicer.
What I need now is a side by side comparison with home brew cables constructed of quality cable and ends.

Yeah doc, I discovered that sped up thing too, unfortunately after I uploaded. Don't understand what happened. Just playback at 44.1 and it is fine. I think when I saved the edits in Goldwave that I somehow saved as a 44.1 file, but it is still labled as a 48k file. Don't know, but when I adjust the sample rate on playback, it sounds just like it did when I recorded it. So, some weird ass glitch. Sorry.

The home brew vs. Monster SP1000 will happen soon here. Been working a lot lately and haven't found the energy to get to it... :(
