mono to stereo?

I have a song in wav format on my computer, but it is mono format, is there anyway i can get it converted to stereo.. ive looked at programs but none of them seem to do this... any ideas..

Which programs have you looked at ?
Cool Edit and soundforge for starters will convert.
There's probobly a freebie out there that will do the job.

There's no direct way to create stereo from a mono source. But there are lots of tricks you can do to simulate a stereo recording. One is to apply a little small-room reverb as a stereo effect. That will add a sense of spaciousness. There are also 3D effects plug-ins (QTools makes some) that create faux stereo by altering the phase and frequency response, and sending one altered version to the left channel and another to the right.
