I'm trying to record my band at the moment, but I've got an issue. I have six mics on the drums set and they all run to my mixer. I have everything panned and eq'd beautifully on my mixer, but then when i plug the mixer into line-in jack in my computer's sound card, the audio only goes to the left speaker, which I believe means it only records in mono. Is there anyway i can get it to record in stereo? The mic-in jack is disfunctional on the sound card, so we can't go that route. I have an SB Live! soundcard for those that are wondering (I know that's no good but blah blah blah). What do you all suggest I do?

Are you using sequencing software ? you could convert the file to stereo, although it wont be true stereo you will at least have a stereo track to work with.

Stealthtech, what in the world would be the point of making a fake stereo file from the mono source?

Taiyed, you must have a mono plug coming into the line in, or else you have everything panned left on your mixing board.

Make sure your cable is running from Left and right mixer outputs to a STEREO 1/8 soundcard line in jack. Check your mixer and soundcard panning.

Yeah, it sounds like the cable running from your mixer to computer has mono connector into the computer. Radioshack time!

ah hah!

Good call. The cord definitely converted the stereo to mono....well looks it is radio shack time.
