When I create a mono audio track, it defaults to the left. I poked around and can't figure out how to chose the right side. Can someone please point me to the answer?

Thanks!

Are you sure you're not recording stereo tracks with a mono cable? Cause if it's recorded mono it should e centered or you should at least be able to pan it around.

I'm using my mike and going XLR into an M-Audio. I'm new with it but I'm assuming XLR 1 is left and 2 is right. Can I pan after the fact with Cubase? Also, is there a way to switch sides after the fact?

I'm selecting stereo in my audio track, I don't see where it allows me to choose left or right. So I'm assuming that choice is made based on where I plug into the M-Audio.

Are you trying to record a stereo track or just one vocal/instrument? When you create the track itself (Project>Add Track>Audio) you want to select 'mono'. The only time you want a stereo track is if you are recording a stereo source (line input, keyboard, live room recording, etc.). You can record two mono tracks at once. Ignore it if they are labeled L/R. They are better called 1 & 2. L (1) will be the input of one mono track, and R (2) will be the input of the second mono track. Then you can pan either track wherever you want. :D

Aaaaahhhhhh... that explains it. Thanks. I almost don't mind looking like a ditz. The learning curve is well worth it!
