I have a Behringer MX 2004A and although many people diss this, I do not mind the product at all...

I have been doing all micked recording, one track at a time using Vegas. ..

What I am curious is to how do I hook up monitors???

I just bought a guitar processor so that I can plug in without using my amp to record ... Though I can't hear what I play and with what effect due to I dont have monitors ... I figured being I had my Control Room Out plugged into the mic jack of my PC I would be able to hear through my computer speakers ... I was wrong ... So then my thoughts said "hey why not try to plug to the mixer and hear what comes out ... then listen to play back after" ... What can I do to solve this problem?

If you want monitors for your mixer (which will only sound when you record) you should take it out of either "Monitor Out" or tape out, depending on what ur mixer has. However, if you want to do this, you'll have to buy monitors and a power amp (fairly expensive). However, if you want monitors for ur comp (when ur mixing, when it actually matters). There are a few inputs on the back of ur soundcard and most comp speakers will plug into one of those. Try Altec Lansing or hercules speakers. If you tell me what sound card u have I can help you more. operation_neddy@yahoo.com

This is the deal though

I wanna be able to hear the guitar as I record ... I am playing through no amp ... it's a multi effects pedal into the amp ... but i need to be able to hear it as i record / before i record to know i am getting the sound i want ...

i am able to hear during the mixing through my comp. speakers ... i have decent ones to get a good mix ...

i know my friend hooked up his home stereo system to his pc and he is able to hear while he plays before he records ... BUT i figured that my computer speakers would act the same way as that ... but they dont ...

so you think its a button on the mixer i have to press to allow playback in real time?

hey--
Now that I understand what you're trying to achieve its much easier. it's not a button you push but output jacks. The "monitor out" is usually two 1/4" plugs (1 for Left and 1 for Right) while the "Tape Out" plugs are two RCA (red and white) plugs. After that, you'd take cables from the mixer to the power amp, and then from the power amp to the monitors.

Thank you much...

Now say I want to hook up my home stereo system ... I can think of the terms as it is late for me right now ...

but the master part which has the "tape/aux/cd/phono/tuner" with the speakers connected

would i do basically the same thing?

also ... how would i hook this up where I can hear playback from the pc, and real time play at the same time ... cause this is what I plan on doing using the master part with the monitors i have ...

Why can't I hear the real time through my computer speakers though?
