Hey folks, I've posted before on this issue but now have clarified my needs/interests....so!

I'm in the market for new Active, near-field Monitors for use in my bedroom-studio setup. This is a fairly small-scale setup, by my standards. My housemate and I are simply interested in a flat-response setup for recording our songs on our PC's.

My question is, they're are monitors out there from 300 to 1500 that are active and near-field. What I'm wondering is, are the more expensive ones going to be wasted on a small scale, bedroom-based setup like my own? Or is the higher-end *ALWAYS* better than cheaper in this area of equipment? What can I get away with here? I'm not looking for "state of the art" -- just good, reliable monitors for home use.

names, prices, explanations all welcome...

thanks!

I mix with NS-10's which are horrible sounding compared to any cheap stereo speaker. I also use a 4x9 speaker I took out of my 1966 Cadillac Coupe deville.

If I get a decent mix where I can hear everything on my 4x9 your tunes will sound good anywhere.

Go to my websites and listen to some songs I have mixed with this concept, tell me what you think.

I am fond of my Yamaha MSP5s, though some people around here don't like them. They are $250 each. They are very articulate through the mids and highs, and definately reveal every mistake. The low end does not translate as well to home/car stereos, but with a little practice you can learn what to expect.

I'm gonna say it then get outta here before I get stoned to death....Behringer Truth is worth checkin out.....
