Monitors for a Motif

I just bought a Motif 7, but I've been using headphones to hear what I play. I'd like to get some decent powered monitors for it, and spend less than $600 US. Any suggestions? I'm not going to using it for live performances(at least not until I learn how to PLAY), so I don't need anything too loud.

Do a search for "monitors". They are well suited for application and you can use them for recording if need be. You’ll find a hundred different opinions on which model to buy though.

Personally, I find it difficult to recommend any monitors in that price range, especially active monitors. So, I’ll leave it to other to voice their preferences.

I just bought a pair of Mackie HR 624s to accompany my Motif 6 and they sound great. I read a great review on em in Future Music that convinced me to spend the extra $200/speaker. Once I went into the store to listen to them compared to the other brands, man there was no doubt these things sounded better. They have a bright sound and produce excellent bass frequencies for a 6" speaker.
