Hey guys,
Im in the market for a new set of computer monitors/stereo speakers.
Im currently running a Digi-002 thru my computer with a set of M-Audio SP-5B Studiophile monitors.
Ive run these little ass speakers for 4-5 years and have always loved the sound of them but they could use a little more bass or low end as well as a little more power.
Im looking to spend around 3-400 bucks per speaker. Can someone recommend some good Flat Powered Monitors with at least a 6" woofer.
Thanks

I strongly recommend Dynaudio. They've done more to advance the state of the art driver than any other company on the planet.

Ultra accurate in every measurement, able to handle large amounts of power without compression.

The active BM5A would be right in your ballpark.

Wonderful sounds would great you every time you turn those on.

I know they don't have a 6" woofer but I've been using NS10M's with a sub for a long time and I'm very comfortable with them.

NS10M's take a long awhile to get your sound with but what I like is that so many studios use them that they are somewhat of a standard.

I totally understand and agree that they are not accurate at all and that there's tons of better speakers out there.

I also have, with a speaker selector switch, a pair of Auratones, a pair of Acoustic Research AR-7's (blast from the past fuzzy sounding - I love them), a pair of KLH's I don't use much, and a mono 3" box I made in the late 60's.

Man they can get very expensive. I need a set but don't have the $$$ Let us know what you get and how you like them.

Yes I have noticed just how quickly you can go from wanting to spend maybe 150 each to strongly considering a set for 650 each. If I go with what I really want and pay no attention to cost Id probably easily end up spending 800-1000 each. But I do have to pay attention to cost...
That sucks

I just bought a pair of maudio cx5s. I am really impressed, I have a sub, but even without, they have plenty tight lowend.

check out the KRK Rokit 6 G2 for under $500 /pr Canadian
IMO, they don't need a subwoofer and make an excellent powered reference monitor.
I have mine setup approx 3 to 4 ft either side of my PC monitor, slightly point in, at ear-level when sitting down.
