If i use my surround sound unit and speakers to monitor out of my Zoom 1044 would i be getting close to the truth or just a fairy tale??? If i set all my eq's flat, would it be the way it actually sounds??Close to it??? Any suggestions would be great. One more question, If i just run into a CD burner out of my rca jacks on my Zoom, would the quality be as good as running out of the SCIC Drive to a burner???

Tell us what your surround sound system is and we'll be more in a position to answer you.

It is a phillips FR 965, It has 6 speaker surround. 2 front, 2 rear, 1 center and one powered sub. It is a digital audio reciever. The speakers that come with it are the larger speakers that are about the same size as monitors, not the small square speakers u screw in ur wall. Is this enough info.?? If not, plz be more specific and I will c if i know.

Anybody??? Any thoughts???? A little goes a long way....

Since they are not designed for flat responce then technically, no, they are not really suited for mixing. Chances are they have a more colored sound as hi-fi speakers are designed to complement the music whereas monitors are designed to simply reproduce the music with minimal coloration.

That being said the real test is your mixes. If you can mix on them and the mixes translate well to other systems then I guess your all set.
