I just bought a US-1800 interface. When I plug a keyboard directly into the unit it records beautifully. I can also play back the recording and hear it because I connected a monitor speaker to output one on the back. Problem is, I can't figure out out to hear the keyboard as I am playing it. Anyone know if this monitoring can be done through the US-1800 or do I have to run the keyboard through a mixer first in order to hear it as I play? (I'm running Windows 7 and using an 11-year-old copy of Cakewalk Pro Audio 9). Thanks!

Are you connected via MIDI or the audio outs of the keyboard? There should be a 'monitor' option on the recording channel in Cakewalk. I am not familiar with your software though, so cannot give specifics.

Try the Cakewalk forum. :)

Does the US-1800 have an on board computer software mixer? if so there will be a monitoring option within that mixer.

Alan.

^this. Also, try turning the knob that says 'input/computer'.
