Can anyone tell me how I can monitor while recording. I am using Windoes XP Home Edition and Acid 4.0 and a MXL desktop Recording Mic. I can't seem to find a way to monitor both the tracks I have laid and the one I am adding live. Hope I have explained it right. What I do now is put on headphones and keep them slightly off my ears so I can hear and play to my previous tracks and record the new one for mixing. Eeeeeeeek

Thanks

In acid, is there an option to turn on what's called input monitoring? It would reroute the currently recording track to an audio output so that you could listen to it. It takes a little more processing power, but any modern machine should be able to handle it. Also, what type of soundcard are you using, if there is some kind of software mixer that came with it, you might be able to monitor your microphone through that as well.

I usually move the mic to the middle of my room, a good distance from my monitors. I play back what I've already recorded through my monitors and start recording the next track. By moving the mic away from the monitors, it picks up very little, if any, of the sound. It helps to have a wireless keyboard (or one with a really long cable :D ) so you can activate the recording while your by the mic in the center of the room.

This is not the greatest work-around, but it works for me!
