Hey, i have the yamaha 01v mixer with adat expansion going to my computers soundcard terratec ews88 d.

my question: The soundcard is 8 channel, so i can only have 8 channels sent back to the mixer for me to hear over the monitors if i am monitoring through the mixer, correct?

now, if i moniotored from the soundcard, i could play as many tracks as i want, if that is even possible, correct? because the monitors would be playing back whatever is on the computer? that is the one i would like to do because i would like to use them as computer speakers as well.

please help. and thanks for any answers

depends of your soundcard software

The Nuendo Audiolink 96 Multiset's software let me send whatever I want, wherever I want.

Example:

If I have, lets say 11 mics on a drum kit, (8 via Adat anr 3 via analog in), I will monitor all this on 6 channels (01v's 17 to 22)
17=kick
18=snare
19/20=toms
21/22=overheads

So I can EQ, Fx, compress, etc. for the drummer's headphone.

If a guitarist/bassist is recording at the same time, well I use 01v's channels 23 and 24 to monitor them.

If I the band want to play everything (guitar/keyboard/bass/drum/vocals) then I'll assign the overheads to 19/20 with the toms.

so it will be like this:
17=kick
18=snare
19/20=toms/overheads
21=guitar
22=bass
23=keyboard
24=vocals

The Nuendo Audiolink Software (RME) let me do a lot of different things for monitoring. Another reason why I love this soundcard.

Got it? Or my english is too bad?
