I'd like to be able to send the output of a cd played in windows to my monitors without having to change the 'sounds and multimedia' settings in the control panel. I can set winamp to output through an alternate output (such as my gina24's outs) and it works great for mp3's, but cd's still play though the computer speakers with this setup. I imagine this is somehow related to the physical digital output of the cd player, but what I'd like to know is if there is a freeware (or really cheap) app out there that will let me route the output to something other than the windows sound mapper. I know I could do this via analogue routing (patch the headphone out of the cd player to my gina24, etc), but I'd rather keep the digital signal as such as long as possible.

Thanks for any help...

Use the digital audio extraction of your player to play CD's. Winamp and Media Player 7+ can do it.

Doesn't DAE rip to wav files? I want to just play the cd normally...
