Monitor Speakers?

Thanks to the info in this forum, I am recording on my computer. Although I only have a cheap PCI sound card, it still sounds pretty good. It's alot quiter than the FM card the computer came with.

I'm using a POD for my preamp.

I was wondering? I'm careful on my line in volume not to clip, but the sound is still a little muddy? could it be my speakers? I know they are only cheap computer speakers(with a sub-woofer($30). But they make CD's sound good.

Would better monitors help? or is it just the sound card.

The computer store near my house has SB Live cards for $69. Or does this price sound like the SB Live Value card?

Thanks again for all the great info,

Mike

You can't get something for nothing, which includes SoundBlaster cards. You just dropped $300 on a POD and you're willing to put every bit of music you make through a $69 sound card and mix it through $30 speakers? Please!

Read the main site and the FAQs and take some advice...you have a limited amount of time to make music...make sure it's recorded and mixed well and you'll never be sorry. What good is a great guitar and POD for tone if it will come out sounding bad?
