I'm looking into getting a reference monitor/amp set up for my home studio. I've read all of the info on the Alesis Monitor 1's, Events, etc. and the Alesis RA100 amp, and other amps.

My question is not so much one on which equipment to get, but the set up:

When I finally move into my extra bedroom "studio" I will have this type of set up -
1. Tascam 564 minidisc 4 track
2. Outboard CD-R burner (Tascam 5000 maybe?)
3. Dual deck Sony tape recorder

If I get an Alesis RA100 amp, it only has one left and right input. To hook everything up I need to buy a monitor amp with several inputs (kinda like a home stereo amp with cd, tape, aux, inputs). If so, can anyone recommend an amp that would work for me??

Or do you ONLY use the reference monitors to mix with and have a completely different amp and speakers to listen to the cd and tape deck? I would hope, in the interest of $$$, that I would only need one amp and one pair of speakers for the whole deal!

Here's how you hook it up...
MONITOR OUTPUT to the RA100 input
2TR INPUT to CDRW RCA ouput
LINE OUTPUT to CDRW RCA input

You can either substitute the cassette deck for the CDRW, or hook that up through the one of the stereo inputs to listen to cassettes.

There's a switchbay in the monitor section on the 564. When you want to mixdown to 2Trk (or listen to cassette thru the input channels), press the 'LINE L' and 'LINE R' buttons. When you want to play a CD, press the 2TR IN button.

I think that should work.
Good Luck
