I did a search on monitors here and at the time (last year ) you were liking tannoys (pbm 6.5???)

More recently you have been liking the KRKv8 s.

I need a pair of nearfields. I could go powered or not.

Question:

DO you feel that the difference in quality and accuracy between the Yorkvilles, Behringers, above mentioned tannoys and say the reveals ( either powered or non powered) IS enough less than the Mackies, KRKs and others at the 1 - 1.2k price point that it is worth continuing to mix with home stereo speakers (klipsch ksb 3.1) while I save?

OR do you feel that as a newbie it will take my ears a while to grow into them anyway so I should get a decent pair in the 4 to 6 hundred dollar range.

Thanks to Bruce and anyone else willing to share their insight.

BTW this is my forst post here but I have been watching a while and I love this compared to HC, tho hc is pretty good too.

The Tannoy Reveals are a good choice, as are KRK, Event P-series and the 20/20s, JBL 25s....

There are good monitors at many price points, so you shouldn't have to "wait to upgrade". Yorkville YSM-1i are excellent budget monitors and they also have an active version.
