I have 2 JBL pro 111 studio monitors. Anyone know of a good source (power amp) to power them up. I tried the 100 dollar cheap route and bought a radi shack stereo reciever. But for some reason the right channel stopped working. They gave me a new one and the same thing happened. No idea why. So they gave me money back. Thanks for any ideas.

Anything but radio shack! :D

I use a Art SLA-2. The only thing I don't like about it is the fan noise when the fan comes on. It's 1 rack space high and about 200 watts per channel at 8 ohms stereo. Art does actually have some decent gear in their line up.

look for a used audiophool piece... NAD and adcom are good goto amps... dont buy into the idea that hifi amps are coloured... it's the speakers not the amps...

Thanks all, hey dementedchord, what is audiophool piece? Any by "used" you mean on ebay.

xstatic, how much?

IMO (and experience) audiophiles(fools) tend to buy great gear at inflated prices and tend to replace them more often than would seem to be necessary... the end result is guy's like us can pick up way cool amps (and speakers if your careful) for next to nuthin...

ebay would work... or craigslist... or local paper... if you've got a good retail audio store near by get to know the sales people... i used to help clients unload their old stuff so they can get the new wowza2007...

Kinda like what a lot of us recordists do with recording gear. :D
