Well, one of my Bx8a's is crapping out, but only when I use the XLR input. When I do it crackles and sounds like it is blown. When I use the 1/4" imput everything is fine. M-audio has a 3-4 week turn around, which is definitely too long. I am waiting to hear from my salesman at guitar center, but it is outside of the 30 days, but they may work with me. Not sure. Any ideas or suggestions?

do your basic signal flow troubleshoot. Have you tried multiple cables? Have you checked the connection inside the speaker?

Nope haven't opened the speaker. I have tried multipe cables and switched the outputs on my mixer. So, it does seem to be the XLR input for sure. I will try taking it apart, but not sure what to look for and not sure if I need to take off the front or the back of the monitor.

it looks like the whole back panel comes off by the screws that are around the perimiter. Be careful when pulling it out to avoid breaking any good connections. Look for bad solder connections, it's possible something got josseled loose.

I'm not surprised another CHINEESE monitor falls apart...

Wow, I thought I was the only one having this problem. The crackling (actually more like buzzing) on my BX-8 comes from the tweeter. It actually rises and falls in volume. It's not the signal itself, or the cable, or the AC current (same effect in two different locations).

I'd sent it back to MAudio *barely* within the warranty period. Complete waste of shipping costs, since it wasn't fixed, and now the warranty's expired. I would *NOT* buy another pair of M-Audio monitors.

If it's simply the XLR input, I could live with using the 1/4" inputs (better than the buzzing!). Let us know what you discover.

Edit: D'oh, I just disconnected the XLR cable and the buzz didn't change. Looks like it's a different issue.

Bring Back Some Quality....please Someone!!

Two meanings to cheap, one is cost, the other craftsmenship.

Fenders selling Tennis shoes...whats that say about the times?

I complained about some Mexico Fender amp I was thinking of buying (NEW) but were just crap quality and workmanship. fhk that.

my Fender friend said (before he realized it)....

"I hate to hear that...maybe you could go try A PILE OF THEM and FIND ONE THAT WORKS?"

its sad, really.

Hate to hear your bad luck and lost shipping money...most of us don't have money to waste!
