Hello,

I have a Behringer 1002 mixer, and an M-Audio sound card.

If I record (using Acid) a track, I am unable to hear the track as well as the new track from the mixer.

I have the following setup:

Synth -> mixer, mixer tape-out into the in of the sound card, and the out of the soundcard going into the channel 7/8 of the mixer.

I've tried running the out of the soundcard into the tape-in, but If I select the "tape to control room", I can't hear the track to be recoreded, and if I send tape to mix I get the first track bleeding onto the second.

I read this thread, but I don't have (or can't find) the fx return, and I get the monitored 7/8 bleeding onto the track I wish to record.

Is this monitor able to do what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

Problem resolved

In case any one else comes accross this problem:

To fix this, I ran the audio card out to the tape-in on the mixer. I ran the tape-out to the audio card in, switched the "tape to control room" to on, turned off "tape to mix", and turned off "fx to control room".

Lastly (and what I had been missing), I had to set my sound card to monitor. Mine is an M-Audio 2496, and I set the Patchbay Router to "Monitor/mixer".

Still don't quite understand how the fx works, and why sening the fx to the control panel shuts out the tape-in.

heres the way i do it.
i have a recording mixer with all my mics plugged into it and a playback/mixdown/monitor mixer set to line input. i take the output of the
soundcard into the playback mixer with headphones plugged in.
some folks use a cassette deck to monitor a soundcard and plug their phones into it.
