I have noticed that when recording from my amp there is a noticable buzz present that is not picked-up when recording otherwise - however the buzz does not come from my amp, so after a few tests i realised that it was coming from my PC monitor. So to ensure that this was right I switched the monitor off and on whilst recording and it was visble on the waveform itself that this was the case.

Does anyone know a cure for this?? or if a flat screen monitor would eliminate this? Or if the fact that the monitor and the amp are fed through the same adaptor plug will afect this?

Thanks

If you mean hooking up a cabled output from your amp into your audio interface, this is probably a ground hum issue. If the amp has a ground lift switch, it is probably sufficient to disable the ground. Otherwise, you might consider wiring up a ground bussing pigtail for the amp.

Basically, it's a short cable with a plug on one end and a jack on the other end, with a normal audio cable between them, but on the end that plugs into the problematic device, you add an extra 10AWG wire on the ground contact and hook the other end of that wire to the ground pin on a power plug, then plug it into a power outlet. (Be sure to hook it to the right pin! :) )
