Friends--
Noobie Joel here --
I have a E-Mu 0404 USB interface and am using
Audacity (eventually Reaper). No problem recording
a track, but I can't figure out how to monitor
a mix of both an existing track and my new track
as I am recording. Hope this is clear, and thanks
for your suggestions. I bet this is an obvious thing.
Either that or its impossible... ;^)

Looks like there is documentation on the website that should get you going. I have no experience with the interface, but it should be quite a basic routing step.

Use the aux sends to create a headphone mix. (But yeah, it's in the documentation somewhere)

Just a thought.
AFAIK you cannot set Audacity up for more tracks than the interface has and this might be a problem?

Samplitude Silver has the very simple monitor box to tick "playback whilst recording" and you can setup as many tracks as you want up to a maximum of eight.

Dave.

Problem solved!

Audacity preferences has a box to check:
"Listen to existing track while recording new track"

Hi ecc83
I figured this out on my own, but your post
would have given me the answer. thanks!

Great! Yes, Audacity can do that but AFAIK you cannot setup another stereo pair as well?

Dave.
