The laptop version of the Echo MONA interface is now shipping at about $700.00. Anyone have any experience with this combination? I'm trying to fenagle a computer upgrade to a laptop (Toshiba, Intel, onboard CD burner) that would clear the way for this as an alternative to a desktop unit like a small Fostex; I have a serious case of Babe In The Woods Syndrome....

Anybody done this? Is it as good as it looks?

if you dont already have a laptop id suggest not getting one. they're more expensive to upgrade and your audio card options are severly limited. Id stay with a desktop.

I'll keep the computer I've got at home.

Well, it's like this... it's an opportunity at work; I'm the only one in my firm still mucking around with a DOS 386 unit that now will read a disk only on the third try. Sometimes. So I'm waaay overdue for a replacement and I've been eyeing laptops anyway. Just being an opportunist, seeing how I've been shopping for something to record with at the same time.

I like the idea of bringing it all with me, I guess; portability, 24 bit / 4 channel simultaneous recording and a computer based DAW for the incremental cost is looking pretty good.

If it all works, that is...

How do you expect to get any real work done while you're futzing about with your Taylor and that laptop?
