I have been thinking of gettin' a Triton rack module, cuz base from what I heard from other people in this board, and the samples I heard from korg.com, this leads me to save up some cash to get one. Recently, my friend told me that he has a friend who uses Mo Phatt sound module to produce hip-hop/r&b music. I heard this module a long time ago, but didn't really pay attention to it. So I checked out musiciansfriend.com and listen to some samples. I was amaze with the sounds and not only that it's cheaper than gettin' a korg module. Now I'm somewhat confused on what to buy. Can you guys help me out? Here are the modules that I am looking for now:

E-Mu - Mo Phatt Sound Module
E-Mu - MK-6 Mo'Phatt Keys Synthesizer
E-Mu - Turbo Phatt

OR

Korg - Triton rack module

The music that I'm into is Hip-Hop/R&B

Thanks :)

The triton is a whole workstation. If your just looking for hiphop/r&b sounds and you already have something to do sequencing etc with just get the phatt module. I've got the proteus 2000, which is the same thing with a different soundset in it. But it's upradable x 3. All those emu modules come with 32 mb of sounds and have 3 open slots for a total of 128 mb. Of course your gonna spend around $1200 to get it full, but 32 mb of sound is alot to start with.

you can choose any of the e-mu modules and simply ugrade with extra sounds... for hip hop and rnb, it's perfect...

Hmm.. im looking forward to mp phatt and turbo phatt.. $500 differences.. Should I buy mo phatt and buy some expansions or should i buy turbo phatt?

Sorry. I misled you. The turbo phatt is the same specs as the proteus 2000. I thought the mo phatt was too. 128 voice polyphony, 3 open slots, etc.

Well, if you saved enough to get a triton, you probably have enough to get the turbo, right? If your gonna spend all your money on gear, do it right, I say! (I'd look for it used) I got my proteus for $650 off ebay, when it was still over a grand new.

Yeah, it's pretty safe. Especially for something like a module. Just make sure it works.

oops this msg was for this topic, ive misclick on the new thread.. anyways..
what's the 128 voice polyphony for? is this the only difference between mo phatt and turbo phatt? does 500 bucks worth the differences? or should i get mo phatt over the turbo phatt? I go for quality with lots of instruments specially for hip-hop/r&b music.. :)

It also has more open upgrade slots and an additional midi port for a total of 32. 128 voice polyphony means it can play 128 sounds at once.
