Modular FX

I am contemplating my next purchases being some outboard FX. Since I am on a tight budget for "hobby purchases," I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with the Modular FX and what his/her/their experiences were?

go to messageboard.tapeop.com and search. there are a number of threads that have lots of details, and clips.

I have had a smashup in my possession for about a week and think it is pretty cool. the only other 1 i am interested in is the bitrman, which the tapeop folks like alot.

adam, I post at tapeop a lot as well... I broke down and bought a smashup and bitrman from musiciansfriend. They're discontinued boxes, better get them while you can.
