So what I am wondering is this:
On a standard Jazzmaster re-issue MIJ (or any other for that matter), could I replace the original pickups with humbuckers without having to cut, drill or any thing else. Basically, I'm asking, has anyone done this before and if so, how easy was it? If not, can it be done?
Thanks
Gabriel

I don't remember the pickup configuration of the jazzmaster, but assuming you have standard fender single coil pickups, you can get direct replacement "stack" humbuckers (where one is on top of the other but the length and width dimensions are the same).Lots of companies sell these types.I have a Jackson stack humbucker in the bridge position of my Charvel strat.Either that or get a router and go the Van Halen route.

A Jazzmaster is not a standard single coil size, so a regular stack is too big.

Try going to the various after-market guys to find a humbucking Jazzmaster replacement.
Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio etc, may have what you're looking for.
