thinking of adding the at 3035 to my collection i have an mk319 like it plenty but i could use some variety as i will be recording a couple of singers
my v67 is on the way already.
but has anyone compared the Mk 319 to an AT 3035
woul like opinions please thanx fellas

It's been a while since I heard the 319. It was okay as I recall. I don't remember hearing a 3035 so I can't comment on the two.

I have a Sound Room MK-319 (which is a dandy) that I like a lot. A friend left a 3035 here for a few months. I have to tell you in my humble opinion, I didn't like this mic on anything I tried (which are the usual suspects, vocals/acoustic instruments). Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Scoob, if you already have the MK319 and the V67 [which are both darker - and the V67 is grainy and very colored], you really wouldn't be adding a complementary mic to your collection at this point by adding the 3035 - which is colored and grainy.

You do better to get a more neutral and slightly brighter mic. A few choices would be:

AT 4033 or 4040
ADK Vienna
Studio Projects B1
Red5 Audio RV8

I'd suggest adding a dynamic at this point rather than adding the AT3035.

Some mics that come to mind are the EV RE series mics, the EV 635a, the Beyer Soundstar MKII (no longer made but can be found used), Shure SM7, Shure SM57, Shure SM58, Shure Beta 58.

If you're just itching to add another condenser, then consider the AT4040.

long time no see
just an update bute here's the cabinate so far
v67g
2 mk319's (one soon to be modded)
mxl 2001 (bought to mod)

at 4033 and 4040 are in comparison process

I've seen it around here more than once that the SP C1 is a nice alternative to an MK319.

I agree with Track rat. I'm just not a fan of the 3035. Howver, the MK319 is a pretty good mic that can vary a lot in frequency response. I've heard some that are a little bright, like a U87, but mine is wicked dark, like an AKG Solidtube. One of the best complements to mine is NTK. My advice would be to get any mic you really like that doesn't sound like your MK319.-Richie
