Mixing

I was wondering if anyone could shine some light on a couple things.

When I mix on Cubase I find that when its all tacked up (rock music) i lose the bass drum...i would like it to be a hard sound ...not infront of the mix but enough to hear it....but i tend to have to over blow it to make it cut through...

Also when panning drums and BVs is there a method of how you should Pan them or is it totaly random?

If I want to get a reall full ACDC sound all reall in your face and real sounding....what are the main effects I should be useing over the hole Mix?

wow.

excellent article blue bear, especially like the breaking down of frequencies and their characteristics with respect to the instruments, definitely has given me the tools to beef up everything so that less can become more.
