I need to use my PSR550 (just purch) to connect to my pc and add drums, rythyms, strings, keyboard, etc. to some old recordings done in the late 60's when I was jammin with my buddies playing acoustic music. So far, I haven't even got the keyboard to connect properly with my pc, but my real question is what kind of software is necessary to "play along" with the old recordings and add the stuff I want.

My pc is a 1.7g Pentium with 2 HD's (60gb/80gb) and I have an Audigy Platinum card with the drive bay patch panel.

The Yamaha PSR550 has a 16 track sequencer built into it for MIDI recording.

It would be really sweet if I could load the recordings on the keyboard on a couple of tracks (L & R) and play along. Failing that, the next best thing would be to be able to monitor the audio recordings while playing the new part from the 550 and recording it.

I've checked out Cakewalk HS, Ableton LIVE, and AnvilStudio...

Can anyone help? I'm pretty new at digital recording techn, so maybe I'm asking the wrong Q's or overlooking the obvious...??

Thanks to all in advance
