Hi guys, i am a newbie so i hope y'all can help...

I've been trying to figure out how to mix a song using the tascam 688 down to my computer, but can't seem to make it happen.
I have it set to scene 12 and have the RCA cables hooked up to group outs 1/R and 2/L, but I can't hear anything, and the faders have no effect when I hit play (through the head phones or the computer speakers...)
I feel like i am missing something, but the according to the manual, i'm doing what i am supposed to...
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
dave

all buttons in the monitor section should be up, except the one on top, that one should be pressed. main fader up, faders up, scene 12, by now you must be hearing things...if not, mmm, well I don;t know. Broken headphones and rca cable maybe?

Hi,
i did all that and I aLSO had to change to input to tape...
that finALLY got sound out ot the thing via the mixer...
My 1L and 2R rca's are crusty too, so i am using the 3/4 main channel and fader to mix...

i saved that small modification to scene 98 so i am good to go to mix when ever...

thanks for the quick help...though something tells me i will have more questions about this thing. it seems so versatile but tough to use.

it sure is! I have it for two years now and still have a lot to learn. BUt I like the machine very much. It sounds more than okay to my ears. If you have any more questions, fire away...
