Okay, I've got a plan, I want to get a mixer (preferablly a beringer one) that has about 20 channels. From the mixer however i want to go into the computer, and use sonar to edit it. So here are my questions.

1) What kind of equipment would i need to put all 20 channels into my computer? A special sound card i would assume (or maybe im wrong)...

2)Would it be best to do the monitoring using the computer of the mixers monitor outputs?

Thanks again guys...

do you want to track all 20 channels to the computer at once? that'd take some major processing power. check out the delta 1010 I believe it has 10 ins and 10 outs, that should be good enough.

I don't know if there's any single device that has that many inputs. The MOTU models, the Delta 1010, and others can be ganged (up to three Delta 1010s with three separate PCI cards, for example).

monitoring.

i suggest you use the computer for monitoring if you plan on multitracking so u hear the other instruments.
i have seen a sound card at musicianfriend.com that has 24 inputs.

hope i was helpful.

anyone have any other suggections??

see ya
