Mixing stereo sounds

I'm using an MPC3000 and running the 8 outputs into my board. When I sample a sound in stereo instead of mono, the MPC assigns the pad to 1/2 or 3/4. The problem I'm having is that one channel,say 4 will come through fine but 3 will produce a loud noise. Any idea of what my problem is and how to correct it?

Is the problem channel always channel 3?
It could be that one of the the output channels from your MPC is broken, or one of the cables... try switching the cables and you should be able to isolate where the problem is in your signal chain.
