Mixing Requirements??

Alright. What exactly is needed for mixing? Monitors, Computer, and the actual Mixer? I am going for external pieces here. I don't want types of these, just overall what you need. Thanks.

That's a rather oddly phrased question. I guess what you're trying to do is record in the computer, and mix externally? Digital mixer or analog? Effects applied via external mixer aux's or in the computer?

I am going to be using a Fostex MR-8 8 Track Digital Recorder, and a SoundCraft M12 Mixer.
 
Are you mixing down to a two track (stereo) unit, or to your computer hard drive?
 
do you need an additional mixer
or is it not recommended to mix on the recorder as they come equipped with an internal mixer , doesn't yours
