Hey, I'm completly new to mixing and any help would be appreciated.
The other day my band recorded our practice live through a four channel mixer into my computer. we recorded the bass and drums panned all the way to the left and the other instruments (guitar, fiddle, mandolin, penny whistle and vocals) panned all the way to the right so that n-track recorded the two groups seperatly in the left and right channels. I know this isnt a high quality way of doing it but we actually got alright sound out of it without much bleeding between the channels
What I'm wondering is what would be the best way (if possible) to bring up the snare a bit on the left chanel and the fiddle and whistle on the right. these are the instruments that got a a little bit lost in the mix. I've tried messing with the EQ a bit and it helped a little. not much though. eventually we'll try recording all the instruments seperatly but until then I wanna mess with what we've got.
Thanks.

that is a tough one. You might mess with EQ'ing a little more but the plain truth is, you have to have a good source to start with. You may be able to overdub some of the parts. I would suggest going back and starting over if you can. Record the drums only first. Then just keep adding to it. It will save you some headaches in the long run but it will still be tricky.
