mixing probs

Why is there such a huge delay when mixing tracks? Even upping the volume or EQing bass, mid and treb there is at least a 10 second delay...... any answers??? is that the buffering?
 
10 seconds? :confused:

What kind of computer are you running? What is your CPU? And how much RAM? What kind of hard drive?

How many effects do you have going?
 
it's latency. i doubt you were being literal when saying 10 seconds. smaller buffer size will give you lower latency.
 
i had this probly and couldnt get it to stop nomatter what i tried...unchecking the rsynch all tracks options and keepin just the drift one checked fixed it for me
 
I use AA2.0 and my rig usually has little or no lag. When I hit play or record it starts immediately. However, I have had times where, for example, I muted a few tracks so the artist could experiment by recording newer ones. (Instead of pulling the old tracks out of the multitrack I just left them in there because I didn't know if we would go back to them.) This sometimes causes an unexplained lag of 8 to 10 full seconds before play begins and I start to notice small pops, clicks, and jitters once in a while too. I later discovered that if I pull those muted tracks out of the multitrack, things speed up again and the clicks stop happening.

Weird!

Also temporarily locking some tracks that have effects on them can help take some load off of your processor. Worth a try.

I thought he meant when changing the levels of something....When I change the levels of any track in AA, it takes a second or so for the volumes to actually change. not sure why...but its always been like that.
 
Well, the original poster never came back and described his computer. It could be an old underpowered "piece-o-shit-su" family computer with all kinds of problems and mal-ware robbing its resources.

It's anybodies guess.
