Hey guys,

I am just getting started into mixing. My question is :

I have 3 guitar tracks all recorded directly. First rhythm guitar panned 100 L and 2nd rhythm guitar 100 right. Main guitar (Lead) in the middle. They are all high gain distorted guitars.
I am confused on Eqing. What is the recommened way to EQ ?

Thanks
Paras.

There is no THE way to EQ. This is said way to often, but it always depends.

Why don't you post the tracks so we can have a listen.

If someone actually comes in and starts telling him how he should EQ the guitars based on the information given so far, they should be berated, banned, and beaten. :D

You should get the guitars like you want before you record them, then you will only have to do some minor eq during the mix to fine tune the sound.

One off my hates is when a guitar player comes into the studio and lays down loads of distorted guitar tracks all sounding the same (often double tracked and endless harmony lines) and then wonders why we can't get them all to sit in the mix so every guitar note is heard and still leave room for the vocals.

Alan.
