heyas!
i have been interested in learning recording and miixing techniques for some time now.i've spent alot of time researching and am still having difficulty in understanding...
i want to record myself and my wife singing.this is mainly for karaoke,if that makes a difference.i want to be able to tweak the voices and the music seperately and then mix them down into a quality audio format that i might want to burn to a cd.
I just purchased a mixer and am now questioning that purchase due to it may not be able to do what i want it to do.Here is what i have now...
Yamaha EMX66M mixer
Yamaha br15 speakers
JVC22 cd+g Karaoke Player
2 SM57 Mics
currently i am using an hp pavilion lapptop.i only have one "line out"from the mixer,i use a 2 into one cable to go from that "line out" to "mic in"on the computer.(the computer dooes not have a "line in" jack)
my recording software is adobe audition 1.5
currently i am able to record but it all goes into one track,i've tried alot of different things like using right and left channels, panning with the software etc but no real luck.
i am considering purchasing an M-Audio Audiophile USB external sound card for 125 usd.would this solve most of my problems or should i go for another mixer for just recording?i'm thinking if i just got another mixer it still wouldn't work because of my single "mic in"input.
i don't want to be a pro but i would like to get a very good understanding on the proccess and be able to enjoy the hobby.
any other reccommendations appreciated...
Thanks!
