I recently sold an MK 488II to a friend and he's having a problem. It seems he can record all the tracks fine, and moniter them fine. But after mixdown something like tracks 1,3 and 6 (or something along those lines) are missing from the stereo master. I remember having a similair problem when I was using it but I fixed it somehow. A button that needs pushed or something I've lost the manual and can't seem to download one from the Tascam site. He says the signal is on the tape, just not making it out to the final stereo mixdown. Thanks ahead of time....

Yo, McTossa;
Ask your friend to make sure ALL of his tape input switches are in the center (tape) position, ALL the Group 1 & 2 assign switch-
es are depressed (but none of those for Group 3 & 4), that ONLY the Group 1 & 2 switch in the monitoring section is depressed
and that ALL his faders (including the Mas-
ter)are at levels which will allow the material to transfer well. I know these are fairly simple suggestions, but we all (and I include myself, BTW) get so anxious to hear
a mix that we forget to do some of the basic steps. At any rate, I hope this has been of help to you.

is he mixing from the line out? If so, it only sends groups one and two, so when he mixes to stereo make sure all the tracks are selected as 1/2, rather than 3/4.
