1/8 inch type two tape that is.
i use a tascamm 488, and i recently recorded a hardcore band,
and i wanted to explain my setup.. because i think its kind of ahh..
well,
makeshift.

I have the 488's line out going staight to a yamaha 10/2 mixer with the left and right split to diffrent tracks. ( this was hopefully for more control over each track with the highs/mids/los.) Then it is running into a DBX 266XL compressor/gate. Then from there i have to use two adapters for left and right rca to 1/4" jack into the audiophile 24/96. The sound ended up halfway decent (except for some of the guitar players riffs.) but there was a multitude of experimenting and trying to figure out if i should jsut skip the compressor or not. It ended up producing a low white noise over the recording. hm?

i think the worst part is coming up
My monitor situation:
i have two old mitsubishi? (apparently taken from an old car) speakers that are mounted in a regular case. They really have been the best monitor speakers ive ever had... in comparison. But these are powered by a pioneer stereo amp from the late 70s with all the eq options set to the off position.

any thoughts, comments, accusations... welcome
thanks,
noah

I'd go directly from the 488 to the 24/96 and mix inside the box. Get a set of nearfield speakers and also use your computer speakers to add to your monitoring for comparisons.
