Yet another thread..!
I want to mix down part of my demo tape from my Tascam 488 MKII to my laptop so I can put up a rough sample online. I bought an RCA audio cable and RCA to 3.5mm converter. I connected it up and went to try and record what's on the tape to Audacity, but I can't get it to work. Since the Macbook has a built in microphone, that's the default input and it won't let me change that. So when I hit record it records what the microphone picks up and nothing else. I have it connected to the Tascam via the 'Line Output' L and R, is this right? Any ideas?

Thanks
Iain

Do you have a option in the laptop to switch from digital input to analog input?.. Maybe it's ( laptop) looking for an digital input signal as the output of the tape player is analog...Good luck

Sorted it out, just changed the line-out to a line-in in system preferences.
