me and my band are buying a mixer soon and we're going to be using it for recording and live performance. we're looking in the 300 dollar range right now. i was checking out behringer. anyone have any suggestions?

yes, wait until you can afford at least an 8 track mackie

whats the problem with the lower end mixers?

and getting to the 600-1000 dollar range for me right now is a little on the far side. im a freshman in college living from pay check to pay check, haha.

haha, i just read the post on behringer... hahaha

all grudges withstanding... any suggestions?

*sigh* you're probably right. just so much gear i want to get and so little money, haha. we'll see what happens. right now im at cal state san bernardino. major in music, minor in recording arts.

It's always tough buying PA and recording equipment when you are poor and in a band. You have to have a good gigging setup and then on top of that you need a few extra grand. It's tough to get everyone to pitch in because of the whole band breakup custody battle.

I'm glad I'm not poor or in a band anymore.

My advice would be to hold out for the Mackie unless you really need something now. Even though I believe in buying quality stuff it's better to have a crappy mixer than no mixer for another year. Get your parents to kick in on a Mackie. Your a music major for crying out loud. Your education demands it!

Gidge - Have you, or anyone you know, used one of those Carvin mixers? I too was considering a Behringer mixer (I know I know, SHUT UP!!) due to monetary issues, but that Carvin has what I need. I've heard a Carvin bass, and was not impressed, but maybe they did something right with their mixers (?).
