Currently I am going intruments into the mixer, RCA out of the mixer, and 1/8th inch into my computer...i want a new soundcard but im not sure what to get...any suggestions?

Whats your budget? How many channels you need? What software are you using?

Budget..hmm probably no more than $200 ... I'm not sure about channels...i was gonna try to go (2) XLR out of the board (Eurorack UB2442FX) 24 channel board. I'm currently using Sonar 4 Production Edition unless there is a better program i could use.

Plenty of choices for a 2-XLR interface.

Since I use my laptop for recording, I can say more about the USB/Firewire interfaces.

For a while I used an Edirol UA-5. Now they have a slightly updates version of it, UA-25. It sells for around $230, but from eBay I'm sure you'll get it for less.
Although these are both USB interfaces, I never had any problems with them. Edirol has made great drivers for it. Plus the whole thing is in a very durable metal case.

If you wanna go with Firewire, take a look at the M-Audio FireWire 410 (just google all these names, you'll get plenty of replies). Great unit and they say the firewire connection is better than usb... never made me a difference.

If you are using your desktop for recording, M-Audio Delta 1010LT which has 10ins and 10outs. Sells for around $200.
For a cheaper solution, try M-Audio Delta 410. It has 2 analog inputs by my knowledge. Sells under $100.

Hmm i have been looking into the M-audio...just kinda confused about how everything works...but thanks

usually the recording software recognizes the new hardware itself.. no hassle.
